Unique Texas Wine Barrel Estate with Short-Term Rental Cabins Offers Investors a Lucrative Opportunity

A new-to-the-market Texas estate is offering potential business investors the chance to uncork a lucrative new venture, courtesy of four very funky rental properties that sit on its land.

The 5.12-acre property, listed for $2.35 million, comes complete with a foursome of cabins that are housed in giant wine barrels.

Located in Fredericksburg, TX, the estate also boasts a three-bedroom, two-bathroom main residence known as Hickory Haus, which is capable of housing up to 10 people, according to the listing.

But without a doubt, the star of this rare real estate gem is those wine barrel cabins, which were built in 2023 and have already proven themselves to be a very popular draw among tourists seeking short-term rentals.

“This development is unique to the region because the Fredericksburg area of Texas is known as the wine region, which is what inspired the owners’ project,” says listing agent Afton Hominick, of Keller Williams Gillespie Realty Group. “There are four wine-barrel cabins on-site that were built in 2023. They started to begin rentals last summer, and it has become a very popular short-term rental property.”

Each of the barrel-shaped cabins was named after the most common wine varieties and features a private deck for soaking in the views.

“The Chardonnay barrel features more white and has gold and champagne tones,” Hominick says. “The Rosé barrel has pink and blush tones. Tempranillo was designed with purples and burgundies, and Cabernet features deep burgundy, maroons, and reds.”

The cabins are designed to accommodate two guests while Hickory Haus can accommodate up to 10 guests and features a back patio “ideal for BBQs, watching wildlife, and star gazing.”

Hominick says the next buyer could certainly live in the larger home and rent out the wine-barrel cabins.

“The current sellers are just a sweet family who decided to make this their adventure,” she says. “They developed the design for the barrels. The property can also be sold with all of the furnishing conveying, if the buyer wanted. There are no TVs in any of the cabins, and they designed that intentionally.

“They wanted the cabins to be a place to sit together and enjoy some wine or a cup of coffee. Each cabin does have Wi-Fi, though, and a kitchenette with mini fridge, sink, microwave, and coffee machine. They also have a full bathroom with rainfall shower heads and sinks with custom wine barrels at the base of the vanity.”

The Hill Country property is just a five-minute drive to popular Main Street, yet feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

“It has a fun, tranquil, and rural feeling to it,” Hominick says. “You can come here and enjoy peace and quiet and also be at wineries or restaurants in less than 10 minutes.”

Hominick believes the unusual design of the wine-barrel cabins will entice an investor seeking a one-of-a-kind property.

“The market is very saturated with a lot of new developments for short-term rentals,” she she notes. “Doing something like this gives you an advantage. We have had quite a few inquiries about the property. It’s a unique design and very Instagram-worthy.”
